Counties are both named and delineated and colored in shades of pink, green, and yellow. The map shows major towns and principal roads and rivers and other important bodies of water are shown and named. Other topographical features such mountains and swamps are shown and/or named. Relief shown by hachures. Portions of South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia are also included, but the map ignores the fact that North Carolina shares a border with Georgia. Longitude is measured both from Washington and Greenwich.
