This is a pen and ink on paper manuscript map of North Carolina having a situation date of 1841. It appears to be one of a pair prepared by Robert Cochran for the use of the General Assembly, possibly for revenue projections. Although slightly larger than the Senate version and lacking figures for Rowan county, this map is otherwise identical. The counties in existence in 1841 are both delineated and named, and what is probably the total number of taxables and the value of taxable property in each county is noted on the map within the outline of that county. Albemarle, Croatan, and Pamlico sounds are named, and the relative location of New Inlet, Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke Inlet, Cape Lookout, and Cape Fear are noted. No other geographical or topographical features are shown. The words Speaker-House of Commons is written in the upper right.
