Notes |
In its first football bowl game, the University of North Carolina lost to undefeated Georgia 20-10 in New Orleans on January 1, 1947. After rushing for over 1,200 yards during the 8-2-1 season, Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice was held to 37 yards. The University of North Carolina won the opening-game rematch of the following season. This button was found with white paint obscuring "1947 Sugar Bowl" (won by Georgia, 20-10), and inked with "UNC 14, GA 7" -- the score of the opening game of the following season. |
