Notes |
As the Nixon administration initiated military incursions by United States forces from Vietnam into neighboring Cambodia and Laos, the National Peace Coalition organized large rallies on the East and West Coast to demand immediate withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Southeast Asia and the abolition of the draft. This poster produced by the Student Mobilization Committee to End War in Vietnam publicized rallies scheduled on April 24, 1971 in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco. An estimated 150,000 to 200,000 gathered on the Mall in Washington, and an estimated 150,000 protested the war in San Francisco. |
